While our primary aim is to achieve improvements for women's wellbeing, many
WiSH supporters are actively involved with a range of other issues, ranging from animal
welfare through to ecosystem conservation. Through the input and
dedication of our supporters, we are able to include wider matters in our campaigns to
reduce domestic violence.
For example, a particular concern is that the abuse
of companion animals - which in turn accounts for the majority of animal
cruelty reports - frequently occurs in conjunction with domestic abuse.
As a result of assistance from WiSH supporters, we
have been able to incorporate this issue into our activities. We are
now working
to raise awareness of the interaction between domestic abuse, companion
animal abuse, and the importance of including pets when assisting women to
leave violent situations.
WiSH takes a proactive role in community education and
the provision of information, and we are happy to advise you how to become
involved in grassroots activism.
